The Guide Dog

I was standing on a street corner waiting for a bus when I noticed a blind man and his guide dog waiting to cross the road. After a few moments, the dog led the man into the street, where he gets brushed by an oncoming car.

The man got knocked down, and he rather gingerly managed to back up on his feet. He called the guide dog over, reached into his pocket, pulled out a doggy treat, and gave it to the dog.

I had been rushing over to him him a hand and on seeing all this, I said: "That's amazing! Your guide dog led you into a busy street where you were nearly run over by a car, and yet you're giving the dog a treat. You must really love that dog."

The blind man turned to me and said, "No, I'm going to thoroughly kick that dog's butt. I'm just using the dog biscuit to determine which end is which."
